Since there are usually over 5,000 earthquakes in California each year of magnitude 1.5 or greater, everyone living on the Point has most likely experienced several earthquakes. Seismologists have been predicting that "we ain't seen nothing yet" because an expected "big one" has not occurred in a long time. It behoves all of us to prepare and know how to respond when the shaking starts. Also, see the section here on tsunamis, since these happen after an offshore earthquake.
