El Nino

Every two to seven years, our region of California experiences the effects of El Niño and La Niña ocean warming which play havoc with our rainfall, the aquatic environment, and with weather generally.  El Niño winters can bring strong storms and high surf warnings and cause local flooding.  NASA is a good source of information about these weather patterns and what to expect from them.
