RELATIONSHIP WITH CARMEL BY THE SEA
Carmel Point is also within the “sphere of influence” of Carmel-by-the-Sea. See City of Carmel-by-the-Sea Municipal Service and Sphere of Influence Review for a further description of Carmel’s sphere of influence. This designation is one reason that Carmel Point and Carmel-by-the-Sea are closely bonded communities. Being within the sphere of influence also allows residents of Carmel Point to serve on the various standing commissions and boards of Carmel-by-the-Sea but not to serve on the City Council or as Mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea. The jagged southern boundary of Carmel By The Sea shows how those who incorporated Carmel-by-the-Sea –insert how border was established
