All Let’s Go Outdoors programs have been cancelled through the month of August 31, 2016 except for the "Frog Pond Walk and Talk" on Thursday, August 18 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. In September, programs at Garland Ranch Regional Park are scheduled to resume.
SOBERANES FIRE CAUSES EXTENDED PARK CLOSURES and PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS
Temporary closures of several Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District open spaces and park sites will be extended through late summer and early fall of this year, as follows:
While Garland Ranch Regional Park has not sustained fire damage, the Fire Marshall has requested its closure to facilitate the development of fire breaks and the movement of firefighting equipment. These closures are related to the District’s need to assess the fire’s impacts and prepare for each site’s reopening. “We are grateful for every firefighter and all support personnel responding to the Soberanes Fire,” stated Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District General Manager, Dr. Rafael Payan. “The Monterey Regional Park District is very fortunate to have an efficient, dedicated staff who will repair and ready the parks for reopening as quickly as is possible,” added Dr. Payan.
These closures are related to fire damage caused by the Soberanes Fire and firefighting efforts presently underway in, or about, the parks. All “Let’s Go Outdoors!” programs at these sites have been cancelled until the closures are lifted. These dates are subject to change.
